A DAMN FINE SOURCE FOR COFFEE

SERBC

This month’s TNT will be a week later than usual. The DC coffee community is blessed with lots of awesome baristas and many of them will be competing or traveling to watch the Southeast Regional Barista Competition (link).

Not sure what the Regional Barista Competitions are? Check out the website for the United States Barista Competition. Or, better yet, check out the 2010 United States Barista Champion Michael Phillips competing at the World Barista Championship in London last summer — where he took the top spot. We’re not going to start making predictions yet, but it’s totally possible one of your awesome DC baristas could be traveling to Houston for the US Barista Competition and then down to Bogota, Colombia for the World Barista Championship this summer. JUST SAYIN’.

So – mark you calendars:

11-13 February: SERBC in Atlanta

17 February, Thursday: TNT at Mid-City Caffe in DC

If you’re not traveling to HOTlanta, cheer on the DC representatives virtually – there’ll be a live stream of the competition on the USBC page  (http://usbaristachampionship.org) during this upcoming weekend.

BEST OF LUCK TO THE DC COMPETITORS:

Alex Bean, Chinatown Coffee

Travis Beckett, Peregrine Espresso

Tim Brisnehan, Filter Coffeehouse & Espresso Bar

Liz Fedden, Dolcezza Gelato

Anna Green, Filter Coffeehouse & Espresso Bar

Lindsey Kiser, Peregrine Espresso

Jeremy Sterner, Peregrine Espresso
