A DAMN FINE SOURCE FOR COFFEE

Demystifying Coffee Varieties

We are excited to announce another coffee event for the DC area.  CCC is hosting a Varieties Cupping on March 5th @ 3:30pm.  DC’s will be at the Training Center in Adams Morgan, but if you find that you will be out-of-town, say in NYC, Asheville, Durham, Atlanta, or Chicago you can catch it at another CCC Training Center.  A lot of you may be familiar with the weekly public cuppings at all of CCC’s regional centers, but for the first time, this cupping with bring everyone together via web cast, including Peter Giuliano to answer questions.

Here is a little more info from CCC’s page….

There are thousands of arabica coffee varieties growing in the world, but the vast majority of coffee cultivation and consumption centers around a select few. In the same way that different grape cultivars affect wine flavor, coffee variety influences cup characteristics. To explore this fascinating topic further, we’ve created a short film and an accompanying cupping, comparing 12 + varieties – and we want to share it all with YOU!

Join us Monday, March 5, at 3:30 p.m. EST (2:30 p.m. in Chicago) at your local training center for a varieties film screening, cupping, and online Q&A session with Director of Coffee Peter Giuliano.

This special Counter Intelligence event is free and open to the (cupping experienced) public.

If this is will be your first time to cup coffee, may we recommend catching one of the Friday Cuppings to gain a little experience before the main event.  There are also local shops that offer cuppings if 10am on Fridays doesn’t work for you.  Check out Big Bear Cafe, Northside Social, Bayou Bakery, and Woodberry Kitchen in Baltimore for their weekly cupping times.
