A DAMN FINE SOURCE FOR COFFEE
So April’s TNT required a little extra travel, but those willing to venture outside the District quickly discovered this month’s throwdown was well worth the trek! A table of delectable desserts, cocktail specials and mini-TNT cupcakes… Buzz, could you be any more charming??
Our three fantastic judges included Catherine Down (Editor of Edible DC – launching in June), Tiffany MacIsaac (Pastry Chef for Buzz & NRG) and Colin Whitcomb of MadCap Coffee. Though new to latte art judging, Catherine and Tiffany did a great job choosing the superior pour!
The competition was tough, but exciting! We had all abilities, ranging from long time baristas to first time pourers. Home court advantage can go far in this game…
There were some pretty impressive pours that dropped! Check out the WDC TNT flickr to see some of the rounds.
Our final two competitors were Heewon from Northside Social and Brian from PT’s in Philly. They were given several vessels to choose from including hollowed out fruit & pastries, baking cups and various fancy glassware.
After much deliberation, Brian proved victorious and proudly took the trophy back to Philly where it will shine until next month’s TNT at Chinatown Coffee Company.
Great job, Brian! We look forward to having you judge our next throwdown in May.
Huge, huge thanks and hugs to Buzz Bakery in Ballston for being outstanding hosts and providing a beautiful space for TNT. If you didn’t go home with treats, you didn’t do TNT right!
Last, but not least, thanks to MadCap for sponsoring this month’s throwdown with some super tasty espresso and some stiff competition!
Thanks to everyone who came out to support WDC TNT!! See you next month…
